REMOVING LABELS

One of our customers has a cellar, that is wall-papered with the labels removed after the event. Their decorating task has become more difficult with the increasing use of self-adhesive labels that cannot be removed with soaking.

Here is the trick, that we discovered quite by accident. Fill the empty bottle with boiling water, and wait a couple of minutes. With care, self-adhesive labels can be removed intact, complete with their sticky-stuff and applied straight to the cellar wall. If the label does not shift, then it is the non-adhesive type that has been applied with a casein-based glue. These labels need soaking and may need 24 hours. Warm soapy water can hasten the process.
